To save energy in compressed air systems for machines and systems

In PreAudit, all parts of a compressed air system are subjected to point-to-point analysis. With Festo’s PreAudit, system operators can immediately identify weaknesses and know exactly what measures will work for their compressed air systems.

In compressed air systems for machines and systems, small operations such as lowering the pressure level, detecting leaks and shortening pipe lengths are often used to achieve energy savings of 25 percent or more. Festo, on the other hand, with the Compressed Air Energy Efficiency PreAudit, offers system operators enormous savings in all their compressed air systems

More and more system operators want to improve the energy efficiency and therefore performance of their compressed air systems. Most also acknowledge that the global standard ISO 50001 should be applied for systematic energy management in their facilities. Operators in Germany can enjoy partial exemptions, for example through EEG reallocation fee (EEG: German Renewable Energy Resources Act), electricity and energy tax deductions.

Quick wins through quick checks

So where is the best place to start? Where can you get quick earnings? This is where some kind of quick control finds its place. In PreAudit, all parts of a compressed air system are subjected to point-to-point analysis. With Festo’s PreAudit, system operators can immediately identify weaknesses and know exactly what measures will work for their compressed air systems.

During PreAudit, energy experts from Festo examine compressed air generation and preparation; It evaluates the compressor usage, analyzes the compressed air quality and measures the pressure drop in the system. In the quick check, experts check whether the pneumatic components of these machines are used in an energy-efficient way by conducting a representative leak detection test on the selected systems. The client receives a detailed report with precisely documented data and recommendations for action in order of priority. The documents reveal the CO2 emission values that most companies should express in their sustainability reports according to the example GRI or GHG.

Fully holistic approach

Only a few suppliers are able to evaluate the entire compressed air system. Generally, only compressed air generation is emphasized. With the Compressed Air Energy Efficiency PreAudit, Festo takes a holistic approach from production to application and has gained extensive experience in this field over the past five years.

PreAudit forms part of the comprehensive Festo Energy Saving Services range, certified according to DIN EN ISO 11011. PreAudit requires Festo auditors to complete a comprehensive training program. Currently, 16 auditors are making Compressed Air Energy Efficiency PreAudit of machines and systems on-site for customers all over the world.
